COVID-19 Pandemic Relief Services By Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Chennai

Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Chennai, continues relief services to the families affected by the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.

On 19 April 2020 the ashrama distributed ration kits to 579 daily-wage earning Irula tribal and SC families  in 17 villages/hamlets in Gummidipoondi and ponneri taluks, Thiruvallur district, around 50kms away from Chennai.

Each ration kit contains : rice, wheat flour, ragi flour, urad dal, toor dal, chana dal, moong dal, vermicelli, sugar, salt, oil, mustard, cumin, chilli,turmeric and sambar powders.

Also, total 868.5 meters of cloth has been distributed to those families.



Ration Kit distribution:

Ramakrishna Mission Students Home, Chennai, through member ashramas of Tamilnadu Bhava Prachar Parishad conducted relief services from 28th March 2020.

Based on the requests, the ashrama  planned to distribute ration kits to the affected families of daily wage earners. In the first phase, 21 Bhava Prachar Parishad Ashramas – in Trichy, Chengam, Sivakasi, Ulundurpet, Ammapalayam-Tirupur, Konampatti, Thiruvarur, Ambattur, Kallavi, Nadupalayam, Dharmapuri, Mathigiri-Hosur, Hosur, Aranthangi, Sevalaya-Tirupur, Chitamur, Perambalur, Kadaladi, Koduvai, Pammal and Kadalmangalam Ashramas – have provided ration kits to 1062 daily wage earning families.

Each ration kit contains : rice, flour, semolina/rava, vermicelli, dal, sugar, salt, assorted spices, edible oil, tamarind, tea, biscuits, washing powder, soap and dettol.

Safety Kit distribution:

10000 face masks were distributed to 19 institutions (government hospitals, primary health centres and government offices) in Cuddalore, Vilupuram and Thiruvannamalai districts.



On 15 April 2020, the ashrama distributed ration kits to 298 daily-wage earning SC and MBC families in Madayambakkam village in Cheyyur taluk, Chengalpattu district, around 85kms away from Chennai.

Each ration kit contains : rice 1 kg, wheat flour 1 kg, ragi flour 1 kg, toor dal 2 kg, urad dal 1 kg, chana dal 1 kg, moong dal 1 kg, vermicelli 1 kg, sugar 2kg, edible oil 1 ltr, mustard, cumin, chilli, turmeric and sambar powders.

Also total 447 meters of cloth has been distributed to these families.


On 11 April 2020, the Ashrama distributed ration kits to 429 daily-wage earning tribal and SC families in 21 hamlets/villages in Thiruvallur district, around 80-100 km away from Chennai.

On 7 April 2020, the ashrama distributed ration kits to 221 daily wage-earning families and tribal families in Thiruppedu, Kottaipuppam, Nagathamman Koil St. in Thiruvallur district.

On 6 April 2020, the ashrama distributed ration kits to 338 daily wage earning families and tribal families in Saraswathi Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Papakandigai village, Madharpakkam village, Thanipoondi, GR Kandigaimodu, GR Kandigai, Ariyandurai village and Athur-Karanodai village, in Thiruvallur district.

On 4 April 2020, the ashrama distributed ration kits to 358 families of daily wage earners and tribal families in Karanodai, Devaneri, Attur and Palaya Erumavetti villages of Thiruvallur district, all are around 35 kms away from Chennai.


On 2 April 2020, the ashrama distributed uncooked food items to 144 daily wage earning tribal families   — 38 families in Mudichambedu village (Ponneri Taluk), 60 families in Kaaniyambakkam tribal village and 46 families in Abhiramapuram tribal village, both in Minjur taluk, Thiruvallur district, which is around 60 kms away from Chennai.
Food items distributed to each family are — Rice-1kg, Rava-2kgs, Sugar-2kgs, Toor dal-2kgs, Bengalgram dal-1kg, Moong dal-1kg, Oil-1ltr, salt-1kg, Mustard, cumin and pepper-100gms each, and face mask 5 nos.


Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Chennai, is continuing the relief services for the families affected due to the lockbdown for COVID-19 pandemic. On 1 April 2020, the ashrama distributed uncooked food items to 43 daily wage earning tribal families in Kizhapudi tribal village in Thiruvallur district, around 105 kms away from Chennai. Food items include — Rice- 1 kg, Rava-2 kg, Sugar-2 kg, Toor dal- 2 kg, Bengalgram dal- 1 kg, Moong dal- 1 kg, Oil- 1 ltr, salt- 1 kg, Mustard, cumin and pepper – 100gms each, and face mask 5 pieces each.



Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Chennai, is continuing the relief services for the families affected due to the lockbdown for COVID-19 pandemic. The ashrama has distributed uncooked food items to 196 daily wage earning tribal and scheduled caste families, in Keemalur(SC-35), Porur Pudhunagar, Bommachikulam, and Ramakrishnapuram villages of Thiruvallur district.
Each packet of food items, that was distributed to each family, consists of  Rice-1kg, Rava-2kgs, Sugar-2kgs, Toor dal-2kgs, Bengalgram dal-1kg, Moong dal-1kg, Oil-1ltr, salt-1kg, mustard, cumin and pepper -100gms each, and 5 face masks.


 

In the wake of the lockdown owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ramakrishna Mission Students Home, Chennai has started relief services with food articles and safety kits distribution.

Food articles Distribution:
Around 121 daily wage earning families were given food grains – Rice-1kg, Rava-2kgs, Sugar-2kgs, Toor dal-2kgs, Bengalgram dal-1kg, Moong dal-1kg, Oil-1ltr, salt-1kg. In addition to that 5 Masks were also given to each family. All of them are tribal and scheduled caste families living 60-70 kms away from Chennai in Thathaimanji, Sirulapanchery, Kallur and Uthandi kandigai villages in Thiruvallur district.

All precautions were taken during distribution to maintain social distancing and hygiene.

Safety Kits distribution:
310 Safety masks , 3 ltr sanitizer and 1 Thermal Scanner were given to Government Hospital, Ponneri in Thruvallur district on the request of the Hospital authorities.
