Narendrapur: Amphan Cyclone Relief Services

Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur  distributed Tarpaulin, Chira Bhaja and Biscuits were distributed among 175 persons at Pallishri Sangha, Harendranagar, Dholaghat (Kakdwip – 15) and 140 persons at Amaravati Club Sebangan Cluster on 03 June 2020

The centre served 37009 plates of cooked food in South & North 24 Pargana districts from 20 to 28 May 2020 as follows:

South 24 Parganas

North 24 Parganas

Kultali: Garankati Hingalgunj: Samsernagar, Patghara & Malekangumti
Namkhana: Bishalaxmipur Sandeshkhali: covering 5 villages
Narendrapur, Baruipur and Sonarpur Nazat: covering 5 villages

 

The centre distributed 2700 dry ration kits (Pulse 2700 kg, Potato 4100 kg, Salt 500 kg, M. Oil 1000 ltr, soap 1154 pcs, Biscuits 32256 packs, Muri 191 kg, Soya Chunk: 80 kg to the North & South 24 Pgs district & the details as follows:

South 24 Parganas

North 24 Parganas

Mathurapur: 12 villages Hingalgunj: 8 villages
Kakdwip: 1 village

 

The centre also distributed 5780 tarpaulins to the cyclone-affected people of Namkhana, Kakdwip, Pathar Pratima, Mathurapur 2, Kultali, Basanti of South 24 Pargana district and Hingalgunj of North 24 Pargana district.


Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur, distributed dry food packets containing 3 kg Rice,  1 kg dal, 2 kg Potato, 1 kg Sugar, 500ml edible oil, 2 pkts Biscuits, 1 pkt Turmeric powder, 1 pkt Soybeans, 1 kg Salt, to 288 families  from Rangabelliya village near Vidya river at Gosaba Block, Canning subdivision of South 24 Parganas.

The centre distributed Khichuri at Agrani Sangha, Vishalaxmipur, Kakdwip, Sunderban, on 28 May 2020.


The Cyclone Amphan which made landfall on 20 May 2020 afternoon wreaked havoc in Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur uprooting thousands of trees in the ashrama. The electricity, telephone and water connection was severed, and a few houses, staff quarters, temporary sheds severely damaged.

The Narendrapur ashrama is conducting Cyclone relief services.

At the time of the ravaging storm, the centre’s staff with their family members were shifted to the centre’s Hostel premises temporarily. They (approx 100 people) are being served cooked food.  300 local people were also served cooked food on 21 May 2020.
